PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth-iron-boron-based magnet alloy having magnetic characteristics varying little. SOLUTION : The magnet alloy is manufactured through the following steps : a step of melting a raw alloy material in a 1st vessel 20 in a vacuum or an inert gas atmosphere; a step of tapping the molten alloy from the 1st vessel 20 into a 2nd vessel 50, in which a through-hole 54 is formed and a core rod 40 is set in the center of the through-hole 54; and a step of allowing the molten alloy to flow through a clearance formed between the through-hole 54 and the core rod 40 and forming the magnet alloy, which is formed into a prescribed shape. The cross-sectional shape of the alloy has a nearly constant wall thickness ranging from one side of the alloy to the other side thereof. The crystal of the alloy is a columnar crystal grown in one direction from one side of the alloy to the other side thereof. COPYRIGHT : (C)2007, JPO&INPIT
