This flash light discharge tube is provided with a tube-shaped glass bulb in which a rare gas is sealed, a pair of main electrodes attached by sealing to both end parts of the glass bulb via bead glass, an irregular surface formed on the outer peripheral surface in at least the region where the bead glass is made to adhere to the pair of main electrodes by melting, and hard microparticles made to adhere to the irregular surface. The hard microparticles have a constitution that is sunk into the irregular surface. Thus, the connection strength of the bead glass and the pair of electrodes can be increased and the bead glass and pair of electrodes reliably sealed to each other.
