PURPOSE : A green phosphor with superior color purity, a light emitting device with excellent color reproducibility and color rendering, a display device, and an illumination device are provided to enhance color purity and to obtain high brightness.CONSTITUTION : A green phosphor includes M element, Al element, silicon, oxygen and nitrogen as parent components and one or more rare earth materials as dopant. Here, M indicates one or more elements selected from a group consisting of Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba, and the rare earth element is selected from a group consisting of Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm and Yb.
