A garden marker comprising a nameplate (10) having a connecting portion (12) with a tapered opening into which a stake (16) may be inserted. The stake (16) has fins (14) adjacent the connection to the nameplate (10) to make a secure and non-spinning connection. The stake (16) has several bends which, when inserted into the earth, prevents the garden marker from spinning with wind.
