PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a function-enhanced permanent magnet material by making good use of a difference in coefficient of thermal expansion based upon magnetic volume effect, and to secure high magnetic characteristics by suppressing use of rare metal for a rare-earth magnet. SOLUTION : Attention is paid to large magnetic volume effect of a rare-earth transition metal alloy. A difference in coefficient of thermal expansion between a mother phase and a second phase is utilized and stress is applied to the mother phase to increase exchange interaction. Consequently, an increase in magnetic moment, a rise in Curie temperature, and an increase in coercive force accompanying stress generation are obtained. COPYRIGHT : (C)2011, JPO&INPIT
