PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a cis-1, 4-isoprene polymer having a high cis-1, 4-microstructure content. ŽSOLUTION : An isoprene compound is polymerized by using a complex represented by formula (A), a catalyst activator, and an organoaluminum compound. In formula (A), R1and R2are each independently an alkyl group, a cyclohexyl group, an aryl group, or an aralkyl group; R3is an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkinyl group, an aryl group, or an aralkyl group, an aliphatic, aromatic, or cyclic amino group, a phosphino group, a boryl group, an alkyl- or aryl-thio group, or an alkoxy or aryloxy group; M is any one member selected from the rare earth elements from lanthanum La to Lutetium Lu (scandium Sc, yttrium Y, and promethium Pm are excluded); Q1and Q2, which are independent of each other, are each a monoanionic ligand; L is a neutral Lewis base; and w is an integer of 0-3.
