PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a corona treatment method in which a corona treatment can be performed stably over a long period of time. SOLUTION : The corona treatment method for performing the corona treatment on the surface of a film-shaped material 10 to be corona-treated, includes the steps of : generating a corona discharge between a discharge electrode 2 and an earth roll 3 that a corona treatment apparatus 1 has; and passing the film-shaped material 10 to be corona-treated on the earth roll 3 during the corona discharge. The corona treatment apparatus 1 further includes an electrode cover 4 with which the discharge electrode 2 is covered and which has an opening 4c on the side of the earth roll 3. The corona treatment method further includes a step of arranging the corona treatment apparatus 1 so that the opening 4c of the electrode cover 4 is formed to face sideward or upward.
