The purpose of the present invention is to provide : a positive electrode for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries, which is capable of remarkably improving the cycle characteristics, while reducing the production cost; a method for producing the positive electrode; and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which uses the positive electrode. The positive electrode for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries comprises a positive electrode collector and a positive electrode mixture layer that is formed on at least one surface of the positive electrode collector, and is characterized in that the positive electrode mixture layer contains a positive electrode active material, a binder, a conductive agent, and at least one compound that is selected from the compound group consisting of acetic acid compounds of rare earth elements, nitric acid compounds of rare earth elements and sulfuric acid compounds of rare earth elements.
