PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalytic material for purifying an exhaust gas component which enables an oxidation combustion of PM at shorter times and a suppression of a CO discharge in PM burning, and at the same time, which enables a further purification of NOx. SOLUTION : The catalytic material for purifying the exhaust gas component contains zirconium (Zr) and neodymium (Nd) as the essential component, and further, contains a composite oxide containing a rare-earth metal R except neodymium (Nd) and cerium (Ce). In the catalytic material, the above zirconium, neodymium and rare-earth metal R constituting the composite oxide are contained as an oxide such that Nd2O3/(ZrO2+Nd2O3+RO) ratio be 3 mol% or more, and (Nd2O3+RO)/(ZrO2+Nd2O3+RO) ratio be 33 mol% or less.
