PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To further enhance the light-emission intensity (brightness) of a yellow phosphor. SOLUTION : The yellow phosphor represented by M12a(M2bLc)M3dO4 is produced by mixing a raw material mixture containing at least M1, M2 and L, and SiO, and then firing the resulting mixture. In the formula, M1 is at least one selected from alkali metals, M2 is at least one selected from alkaline earth metals, M3 is at least one selected from Si and Ge, L is at least one selected from rare earth elements, Bi and Mn, a is ≥0.1 and ≤1.5, b is ≥0.8 and ≤1.2, c is ≥0.005 and ≤0.2, and d is ≥0.8 and ≤1.2.
