PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a residual light-removal structure for removing residual light, other than amplified light, outputted from an outgoing edge side of a rare earth doped optical fiber in an optical amplification system. SOLUTION : A structure is provided on the outgoing edge side of the rare earth doped optical fiber in the optical amplification system using the rare earth doped optical fiber and is provided for removing residual light other than amplified light outputted from the outgoing edge of the rare earth doped optical fiber, wherein residual light-transmitting material is provided around a protective coating of the optical fiber to be connected to the outgoing edge side of the rare earth doped optical fiber, a residual light-absorbing material is provided on an outer periphery of the residual light-transmitting material, and a heat discharge part is thermally in contact with the residual light-absorbing material.
