PURPOSE : Magnesium alloy having high ductility and high toughness and a method for preparing the same are provided to minimize the reduction of ductility of a material resulting from excessive precipitates and enhance precipitation as well. CONSTITUTION : Magnesium alloy having high ductility and high toughness comprises tin(Sn) of 1.0-3.5 weight%%, zinc(Zn) of 0.05-3.0 weight%%, one or more selected from the group consisting of aluminum(Al) of 0.05-3.0 weight%%, manganese(Mn) of 0.05-1.5 weight%%, and rare earth metal of 0.05-1.5 weight%%, and magnesium(Mg) and inevitable impurities of the remaining amount.
