PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a low-cost oxide carrier having large specific surface area, and to provide a practical oxide carrier for a catalyst, having high oxide ion electroconductivity, and containing perovskite-containing composite oxide containing an alkaline-earth metal as the main component. SOLUTION : This oxide carrier for an exhaust gas purifying catalyst consists of composite oxide containing the alkaline-earth metal, and includes a dense central nucleus and a porus surface layer covering the central nucleus.
