To provide a diffusion source which enables the enhancement of magnet characteristics of an R-T-B based sintered magnet.SOLUTION : A diffusion source consists of powder of an alloy comprising 40 mass% or more of a rare earth element R1 necessarily including at least one of Dy and Tb. The alloy powder is composed of intermetallic compound particles having an average crystal grain diameter over 3 μm; the section of the particles is in a thin flake shape.SELECTED DRAWING : None
