The purpose of the present invention is to provide : a conductive agent for non-aqueous electrolyte secondary batteries, whereby it becomes possible to prevent the occurrence of an oxidative decomposition reaction of an electrolytic solution satisfactorily when charge and discharge are carried out under high-temperature and high-voltage conditions and, therefore, to improve cycle properties under the above-mentioned conditions; and others. The conductive agent is characterized by comprising a conductive agent main body which comprises carbon and a compound attached onto the surface of the conductive agent main body, wherein the average primary or secondary particle diameter of the conductive agent main body is larger than the average particle diameter of the compound and the compound contains at least one metal element selected from the group consisting of aluminum, zirconium, magnesium and a rare earth element.
