FIELD : physics.
SUBSTANCE : invention relates to a method for producing irradiation targets for producing a radioactive isotope in the tubular measurement channels of a nuclear power reactor. Method includes the following steps : obtaining powdered oxide of rare-earth metal, having purity exceeding 99 %; compacting the powder in a mold to form a round green product having a green density of not less than 50 % of the theoretical density; and sintering of the spherical green product in the solid phase at a temperature of not less than 70 % of the solidus temperature of the powdered rare-earth metal oxide, and for a time sufficient to form a round sintered target from rare earth metal oxide, having density in sintered state of not less than 80 % of theoretical density.
EFFECT : technical result is possibility of making targets suitable for use as precursors for obtaining predetermined radioactive isotopes by irradiation with a neutron flow in an industrial power nuclear reactor, which can simultaneously withstand specific conditions in a measuring system with a rotating ball with a pneumatic drive.
