PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a fluoride single crystal enabling to enlarge the size and having a large Verdet constant in wide wavelength regions and high transmittance, and an optical isolator equipped with it. SOLUTION : This fluoride single crystal is expressed by compositional formula : L1-xMxF3-x+y, (wherein L represents a rare earth element including Tb; M represents a group II element including at least one selected from the group consisting of Ca and Sr; x is larger than 0 and less than 1; and y is -0.2 to 0.2).
