PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a gold-deposited particle which is excellent in abrasion resistance and keeps high reactivity stably in a method for producing carboxylate by reacting aldehyde with alcohol or alcohols in the presence of oxygen. SOLUTION : The gold-deposited particle contains silica, Al and an alkali metal and/or an alkaline-earth metal in a carrier wherein the atomic ratio of the alkali metal and/or the alkaline-earth metal to Al and that of Al to Si satisfy the expressions : ((the alkali metal)+0.5x(alkaline-earth metal))/Al≥0.5 and Al/Si=0.02-0.25, respectively.
