PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To economically carry out an oxidation reaction for manufacturing a carbonyl compound by oxidizing an alcohol in the presence of a ruthenium catalyst with more improved efficiency with a reduced amount of a re-oxidizing agent used and the like. SOLUTION : When the oxidation reaction is carried out in an oxygen atmosphere for an oxidation reaction of an alcohol using a polymer-fixed ruthenium catalyst (patent reference 1), the amount of a re-oxidizing agent used is reduced and the efficiency of the oxidation reaction is improved. The manufacturing method of carbonyl compounds comprises oxidizing an alcohol in an oxygen atmosphere in the presence of a polymer-fixed ruthenium catalyst and a re-oxidizing agent, where the polymer-fixed ruthenium catalyst comprises ruthenium carried on a crosslinked polymer, the crosslinked polymer having an aromatic side chain, a hydrophilic side chain and a crosslinking group, and the re-oxidizing agent is used in an amount of 0.01-1.0 equivalent to the substrate (alcohol).
