PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an alloy material for an R-T-B based rare-earth permanent magnet ensuring a high orientation rate and a high coercive force, and to provide a production method of an R-T-B based rare-earth permanent magnet using it.
SOLUTION : The alloy material for an R-T-B based rare-earth permanent magnet contains a plurality of R-T-B based alloys and metal powders having different compositions. Each R-T-B based alloy consists of two kinds or more of R selected from rare-earth elements, T which is a transition metal containing Fe essentially, B and inevitable impurities. A first alloy having highest content of Dy out of the plurality of R-T-B based alloys contains 17 mass% or more of Dy. A second alloy having the smallest density difference of Dy content from that of the first alloy out of the plurality of R-T-B based alloys has a density difference of 5 mass% or more of Dy content from that of the first alloy.
