FIELD : chemistry. SUBSTANCE : present invention relates to method of producing polyarylene ether ketones. According to the present method, molecular weight is established during polycondensation of an aromatic dihalogen compound with bisphenol in the presence of an alkali and/or alkali-earth metal carbonate in a high-boiling solvent. Through further addition of bisphenol or organic halogen compound, molecular weight during polycondensation can be altered to the desired value which corresponds to viscosity of the solution in form of a value J ranging from 80 to 150 ml/g.
