PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a thermoelectric conversion material of multicomponent rare earth sulfide, in which a hopping conduction behavior which is effective for improving electrothermal performance index is triggered to realize a high electrothermal performance index at a high temperature.
SOLUTION : The thermoelectric conversion material is a multicomponent rare earth sulfide which is represented by a composition formula (AxBy)S3 (A is at least one kind selected from between Sm and Yb, B is at least one kind selected from among Sc, Y, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, and Lu, the range of x is 0.80-1.20, the range of y is 0.80-1.30, and the range of a value available by adding x and y together is 1.80-2.50). The A contains at least one kind of rare earth metal present as ion in valence fluctuation state, and the B contains at least one kind of rare earth metal present as ion being not in valence fluctuation state.
