PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a positive electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, a manufacturing method of the positive electrode active material, a positive electrode including the positive electrode active material, and a battery including the positive electrode, that can suppress, even under high temperatures and high voltages, drastic decrease in charge discharge performance due to excessive generation of a decomposition film on a positive electrode surface or gas generation inside the battery due to the decomposition of an electrolytic solution.
SOLUTION : A compound including a rare-earth element and carbonic acid is attached on a surface of a main body of a positive electrode active material particle. The compound has a particle diameter of 1 nm or more and 100 nm or less. The proportion of the compound to the main body of the positive electrode active material particle is 0.005 mass% or more and 0.4 mass% or less in the rare-earth element conversion. The main body of the positive electrode active material particle includes a transition metal oxide containing lithium having a layer structure.
