PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of producing a magnet material in which anisotropy is enhanced by using such a method that quenching and rolling of molten metal are carried out simultaneously between a pair of rolls.
SOLUTION : In the method of producing a magnet material by carrying out quenching and solidification of molten metal simultaneously between a pair of rolls, axes of rotation of the pair of rolls are made non-parallel. Consequently, a shear force is loaded on a high temperature flake that is in a softened state due to rapid quenching and solidification, and crystal orientation is aligned thus achieving high anisotropy. A chemical composition of molten metal can be shown by RvFewCoxByMz. R is one kind or more of rare earth elements including Y; M is at least one kind of Ga, Zn, Si, Al, Nb, Zr, Ni, Cu, Cr, Hf, Mo, P, C, Mg, V; and v, w, x, y, z have following relations, 13≤v≤20, w=100-v-x-y-z, 0≤x≤30, 4≤y≤20, 0≤z≤3.
