PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a ferritic-austenitic stainless steel combining high punch stretch formability and resistance to crevice corrosion while reducing the content of Ni. ŽSOLUTION : The stainless steel contains, by mass, 0.2% or less of C, 1.2% or less of Si, 2% or less of Mn, 0.1% or less of P, 0.03% or less of S, 15 to 35% Cr, 1% or less of Ni, 0.05 to 0.6% N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities, and has a metallic structure wherein the proportion of the austenite phase is 10 to 85 volume%. The ferritic-austenitic stainless steel optionally contains one or more selected from 0.5% or less of V, 0.1% or less of Al, either or both of 4% or less of Mo and 4% or less of Cu, 0.01% or less of B, 0.01% or less of Ca, 0.01% or less of Mg, 0.1% or less of rare earth metals, 0.1% or less of Ti and 2% or less of Nb as well.
