PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a sand collecting apparatus for a settling basin which can efficiently wash down earth and sand deposited on the bottom surface of the settling basin to a trough without remaining of the earth and sand in the vicinity of the side wall of the settling basin. SOLUTION : In the sand collecting apparatus using a low pressure sand collecting method where low pressure water is jetted from nozzles to the bottom surface of the settling basin in a state where water is discharged from the settling basin, thereby washing down earth and sand deposited on the bottom surface thereof to collect them into a sand collecting pit provided in the bottom of the settling basin, nozzles installed in the vicinity of the side wall of the settling basin to each of regions formed by dividing the bottom surface of the settling basin into a plural number in the water flow direction in the settling basin are mounted so that a part of the water jetted to the bottom surface of the settling basin flows backward to the side wall side.
