PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a conductive paste for forming the electrode of a solar cell which can enhance conduction between a semiconductor substrate and an electrode. SOLUTION : The conductive paste contains conductive powder (e.g. Ag powder), a glass component, and an organic vehicle, and further contains a rare earth oxide (e.g. La2O3, Nd2O3, Dy2O3, and Sm2O3). After forming an antireflection film 2 on the surface of a semiconductor substrate 1, a conductive film is formed by screen printing the conductive paste and then it is burnt to form a surface electrode 3. The underlying antireflection film 2 is removed during the burning process thus bringing the semiconductor substrate 1 and the surface electrode 3 into conducting state. Volume content of the rare earth oxide is preferably 1.5-4.5 vol%, and the particle size ratio a/b of the average particle size a of the conductive powder and the average particle size b of the rare earth oxide is preferably 2-50.
