FIELD : chemistry. SUBSTANCE : invention relates to an igniter composition which can be used for mechanical as well as electric ignition systems, e.g. in car safety systems, in ammunition and cartouche boxes for devices with a choke. The disclosed composition contains a salt of an alkali and/or alkali-earth metal of styphnic acid and specifically potassium-calcium styphnate, basic calcium styphnate and/or basic potassium-calcium styphnate.
