To provide a producing method of a carbonate of a rare earth element capable of disposing without releasing into atmosphere carbon dioxide gas generated by heat-treating an oxidation-treated object under presence of carbon in a method described in patent document 1 (International Publication No. 2013/018710), and obtaining an oxide of the rare earth element having a reduced boron content, even in the case that the oxide of the rare earth element separated from iron group element contains, for example, boron, due to reduction in the boron content without cost by the method described in the patent document 1.SOLUTION : In the method described in the patent document 1, the carbonate of a rare earth element easy to be converted to the oxide of the rare earth element is produced, by using the carbon dioxide gas generated by heat-treating the oxidation-treated object under presence of carbon, out of a solution in which a gel-like precipitate consisting of a hydroxide of the rare earth element is generated by an alkali added to a hydrochloric acid solution of the rare earth element to adjust pH to 7.5 or more.SELECTED DRAWING : None
