PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a hydrogen separation membrane having excellent hydrogen separability and excellent hydrogen embrittlement resistance without using Pd as an expensive noble metal. SOLUTION : The dual phase alloy for separating/refining hydrogen is composed of an alloy having a composition of, by atomic%, T100-(α+β)MαXβ(in the formula, T is at least one selected from the group consisting of Ti, Zr and Hf; M is at least one selected from the group consisting of V, Nb and Ta; X is at least one selected from the group consisting of Ag, Al, Cr, Cu, Ga, Zn and Fe; α and β satisfy 15≤α≤55 and 5≤β≤45; and T is 10 to 70 atomic%) with inevitable impurities. The alloy may comprise ≤15% of at least one of rare earth elements including Y and La, so as to be enough in ductility, and its thickness can be controlled to 0.05 to 3 mm by plastic working.
