PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain an R-T-B system sintered magnet having the high coercive force by further uniforming the crystal micro-structure of a raw material alloy produced with a strip casting method and making fine of the crushed power and narrow of the size distribution obtained from the raw material alloy. SOLUTION : The raw material alloy for R-T-B system magnet has the crystal grains composed of R2T14B compound and contains 100-950 ppm P and/or S contents. This raw material alloy is desirable to have the compositions composed of 25-35 wt.% R, 0.5-4 wt.% B, 0.02-0.6 wt.% one or two kinds of Al and Cu, 0.5-4 wt.% Co and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. Wherein, R is one or more kinds of elements selected from rare earth meal group and T is one or more kinds of elements selected from the transition metal group containing Fe or Fe and Co.
