PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a wear-resistant member consisted of a silicon nitride sintered body to improve a sliding property, such as rolling fatigue life, as well as strength and fracture toughness. SOLUTION : The wear-resistant member includes the silicon nitride sintered body which is composed by forming and sintering a mixed raw material powder prepared by adding, to silicon nitride powders : 0.5 to 10 mass% of rare earth element in terms of an oxide; 0.1 to 5 mass% of titanium compound in terms of a titanium nitride; 0.1 to 5 mass% of aluminum oxide; and 5 mass% or less of aluminum nitride. The silicon nitride sintered body contains 0.2 to 5 mass% of titanium nitride particles of which major axis diameters are less than 1 μm. The titanium nitride particles contain 80% or more of the particles of which aspect ratio is in the range of 1.0 to 1.2. The porosity of the silicon nitride sintered body is 0.5% or less.
