PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide composite particles excellent in light emitting characteristics and dispersibility and durability for a long period, a resin composition having the composite particles and high light permeability, a wavelength converting layer having high performance and being excellent in reliability and a photovoltaic device.
SOLUTION : The composite particle includes a semiconductor particle and an inorganic compound particle. The semiconductor particle contains a rare earth element and an alkaline metal element, preferably two or more rare earth elements. The composite particles are used, in particular, as a wavelength converting material because of having a function to alter a light emitting wavelength to a light absorbing wavelength. The composite particle 4 shown in Fig.2 includes the semiconductor particle 6 and the inorganic compound particle 8. As an example of the distribution form of these particles 6, 8, a form (reference to Fig.2(b-2)) where a plurality of the semiconductor particles 6 are cohered linearly, a form (reference to Fig.2(b-3)) where a plurality of the semiconductor particles 6 are cohered spherically and the like are shown.
