PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of suppressing gas generation in continuous charge, and of greatly suppressing reduction of discharge characteristics after continuous charge. SOLUTION : The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes : a positive electrode; a negative electrode; and a nonaqueous electrolytic solution. The nonaqueous electrolytic solution contains a nitrile compound which has a chain saturated hydrocarbon group and a nitrile group and of which the carbon number is 4 or more, and the positive electrode contains a positive electrode active material in which particles of rare earth element compound are adhered to a surface in a dispersed state.
