The harvesting machine has a receiving device (3) for receiving harvest, which has a lifting conveyor (10), particularly in form of a lifting and lowering pick-up comprising a propelled sprocket wheel (12) for lifting the harvest from earth. The lifting conveyor and the feed conveyor (11) are controlled independently from each other by the control device (9), such that the ratio of lifting conveyor drive speed to the feed conveyor drive speed is varied according to the change of the detected operating or processing parameter by the control device.
