PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a composition of a PEO surface treatment solution for magnesium alloy products, which can form a firm, dense and uniform oxide film on the surface of a magnesium alloy product. SOLUTION : The composition of a PEO surface treatment solution for magnesium alloy products contains a sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution as a basic solution. In the composition, 1-20 mass% of sodium fluoride (NaF); 1-15 mass% of trisodium phosphate (Na3PO4); 1-10 mass% of sodium pyrophosphate (Na4P2O7); 1-20 mass% of aluminum hydroxide (Al(OH)3); 1-20 mass% of sodium fluorosilicate (Na2SiF6); 1-10 mass% of potassium hydroxide (KOH); 1-15 mass% of potassium acetate (C2H3O2K); and 1-10 mass% of rare earth metal powder, each based on the mass of sodium hydroxide contained in the sodium hydroxide solution, are mixed in the sodium hydroxide solution.
