PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing an R-T-B sintered magnet of a low oxygen content with high productivity and production yield. SOLUTION : The raw material powder is used for production of the R-T-B sintered magnet (where R is one or two or more kinds of rare earth elements, T is Fe or at least one or more kind of transition metal mainly composed of Fe and Co). The raw material powder has the form of the granules that the alloy particles constituting the raw material powder are stuck by an organic liquid. The oxygen content of the alloy particles is ≤2.500 ppm. The alloy particles preferably have the composition composed of 25 to 35wt.% R, 0.5 to 4.5 wt.% B, 0.02 to 0.5 wt.% one or two kinds of Al and Cu, 0.03 to 0.3 wt.% Zr, ≤2 wt.% Co and the balance substantially Fe.
