PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a zeolite catalyst having a long life while displaying a high activity even if the amount of a metallic component to be carried is a little. ŽSOLUTION : The metal-carried and rare-earth-exchanged zeolite catalyst is used for treatment of water containing nitrate nitrogen, wherein an exchanging ratio of rare earth is in the range of 50-95% and metals to be carried are one or more metals selected from Pt, Pd, Au, Ru, Cu, Ag, Sn, Ni and Fe. The content of metal is in the range of 0.3-10 wt% based on metal in the zeolite catalyst and a zeolite is faujasite type zeolite. ŽCOPYRIGHT : (C)2006, JPO&NCIPI Ž
