PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a Bi-substituted rare-earth iron garnet single crystal which is obtained by using a platinum crucible and yet does not contain lead so as to avoid the adverse effects of lead on environment, is free from deterioration in quality and is excellent in mass productivity and has an IL (Insertion Loss) of ≤0.10 dB. SOLUTION : The Bi-substituted rare-earth iron garnet single crystal does not contain Pb, however contains Pt and further, Mn or at least one element of group 2 elements is added thereto, and when Mn or at least one element of the group 2 elements is expressed as M, and the concentration (atppm) of the M and the concentration (atppm) of Pt in the single crystal are expressed as [M] and [Pt], respectively, the value of relational expression Δ between [M] and [Pt] is set to be ≥-0.31 atppm and ≤2.08 atppm.
