PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an electron source capable of enhancing a brightness and a life of the electron source, and capable of restraining energy from being spread, by applying a rare-earth hexaboride to the cold-cathode field-emission electron source. SOLUTION : The problem is solved by attaching a rare-earth hexaboride single crystal nanofiber onto a surface of an electron source support needle, in the cold cathode field emission electron source for emitting electrons by a high electric field.
