FIELD : manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE : invention relates to a method for producing irradiation targets for producing a radioactive isotope in the tubular measurement channels of a nuclear power reactor. Method includes the steps of : obtaining a powder consisting of a rare earth metal oxide having a purity in excess of 99 %, and optionally an organic binder; pelleting powder and optionally organic binder as a result of agglomeration in a rotating drum or a plate-shaped device in a form with the formation of a mainly spherical green product, having a diameter equal to from 1 to 10 mm; and sintering the spherical green product in the solid phase at a temperature of at least 70 % of the solidus solid oxide temperature and for a period of time, sufficient for the formation of a sintered round target made of a rare-earth metal oxide, having a sintered density equal to at least 80 % of the theoretical density.
EFFECT : invention allows the manufacture of suitable targets that can be used as precursors for the production of radioactive isotopes.
