Preparation of an inorganic oxide (I) from precursors of components of the inorganic oxide (I), comprises : (a) dispersion of the precursors in a solvent comprising at least one ionic liquid comprising a cation and an anion, whose electric charges are balanced to obtain a suspension of such precursors in the liquid; (b) heating the suspension at a temperature of 25-380[deg] C; and (c) separating the ionic liquid and (I) from the reaction between the precursors. Preparation of an inorganic oxide of formula (A aM mT t(Y1O 4) y(BO 3) bZ z) (I) from precursors of components of the inorganic oxide (I), comprises : (a) dispersion of the precursors in a solvent comprising at least one ionic liquid comprising a cation and an anion, whose electric charges are balanced to obtain a suspension of such precursors in the liquid; (b) heating the suspension at a temperature of 25-380[deg] C; and (c) separating the ionic liquid and (I) from the reaction between the precursors. A : alkali metal or alkaline earth metal; M : transition metal, Mg, Ca or Al; T : metal of the rare earth family; Y1 : S, Se, P, As, Si, Ge and/or Al; Z : O and/or F; and a, m, t, y, b, z : stoichiometric coefficients that are real numbers and zero or less than 24, where a and m are greater than 0, t, y, b and z are greater than or equal to 0, the sum of y, b and z is greater than 0 and one of y and b is equal to 0.
