PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a multi-piece solid golf ball having an excellent flying capability as compared to a conventional golf ball, soft sense of hitting, excellent abrasion resistance in a cover and excellent friction resistance in a coating film. SOLUTION : In the multi-piece solid golf ball, a solid core is formed of a rubber composition including a rubber base material including polybutadiene synthesized by using a rare-earth element catalyst, a small quantity of organic peroxide, unsaturated carboxylic acid and/or metal salt thereof, organic sulfur compound and inorganic filler. An intermediate layer composed of at least one layer is formed of a thermoplastic resin composition, and the cover is formed of a thermoplastic polyurethane material as a main component.
