PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a multi-piece solid golf ball having an excellent flying capability as compared to a conventional golf ball, a high abrasion resistance in a cover and a soft sense of hitting, and capable of suppressing the impairment of resilience at low temperature. SOLUTION : In the multi-piece solid golf ball, a solid core is formed of a rubber composition including a rubber base material including polybutadiene synthesized by using a rare-earth element catalyst, a small quantity of organic peroxide, unsaturated carboxylic acid and/or metal salt thereof, organic sulfur compound and inorganic filler. An intermediate layer is formed of a thermoplastic resin composition. The cover is formed of a material including an olefin-unsaturated carboxylic acid copolymer and/or olefin-unsaturated carboxylic acid-unsaturated carboxylic ester copolymer, and/or a heated mixture of a metal ion-neutralized substance of the copolymer, polyurethane elastomer and organic or inorganic basic compound.
