PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To prevent the generation of cracks in sintering and to improve material yield. ŽSOLUTION : In the method, a molded item formed by molding a raw material including a rare earth element is sintered and a rare earth sintered magnet is obtained. The molded item is ground and processed in non-oxide atmosphere before sintering and cut powder generated by grinding is collected and reused. In the non-oxide atmosphere in grinding, the oxygen concentration is 50 to 30, 000 ppm. The maximum compression ratio of the molded item is at most 5. The profile of a cutting tool used for grinding is 0.01 to 0.05 mm. The peripheral speed of the cutting tool used for grinding is 200 to 1, 700 m/minute.
