PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth phosphorus vanadate salt phosphor having a high emission luminance and a good color purity, and a vacuum ultraviolet ray-excited light emitting device using the same. SOLUTION : Since the rare earth phosphorus vanadate salt phosphor represented by formula shown below has a high emission luminance and a good color purity, a PDP display can be provided which has a high panel luminance and a broad color reproduction range. By using for a light emitting device (vacuum ultraviolet ray-excited light emitting device) such as a rare gas discharge lamp, the light emitting device excellent in emission characteristics can be provided.
