PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a copolymer which has a further improved re-staining preventing performance than heretofore when being used for a detergent, and is excellent in compatibility with a surfactant, and to provide a production method thereof. SOLUTION : The copolymer is a lactam ring-containing copolymer having a structure derived from a specified lactam ring-containing monomer and a structure derived from a specified polyoxyalkylene monomer.
