PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a new method for producing a primary amine from corresponding nitrile using a cobalt-containing catalyst. SOLUTION : There is provided a method for producing a primary amine in which at least one nitrile is hydrogenated in the presence of a cobalt complete contact catalyst in a device (V1) to obtain at least one primary amine, wherein at least one compound (I) is added repeatedly or continuously to the device (V1) and the compound (I) contains at least one component selected from an alkaline metal, an alkaline earth metal and a rare earth metal.
