PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a coating composition containing an effective corrosion-inhibiting amount of a rare earth compound, and a neutral to slightly acidic generating extender or an acidic generating extender, or combinations thereof. SOLUTION : In one embodiment, corrosion-inhibiting components are combined with other components such as an extender, an amino acid and amino acid derivative, gelatin and gelatin derivative, an organic exchange resin, and combinations thereof, in order to enhance the corrosion resistance of a resultant coating film.
