PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a discharge tube, which prevent discharge from occurring from a trigger electrode to a main electrode and can surely perform discharge- exciting. SOLUTION : The discharge tube comprises : a glass bulb, in which a rare gas is enclosed at a specified pressure; a pair of metal bodies 2, 3, which are mounted on the both end portions of the glass bulb; and a trigger electrode 7, which is formed surrounding the glass bulb; where the discharge tube has glass bulb extension members 8, 8 with the both ends of the glass bulb extended, the glass bulb is sealed by metal members at each of sealing portions formed at inner portions than the glass bulb extension members, and the trigger electrode 7 is formed up to the extent from each of the end portions of the metal bodies in the glass bulb to each of the sealing potions.
